(There’s) Always Something There To Remind Me

Description

Ready for an 80s song that isn’t really an 80s song? Here’s an SSA (occasional opt. divisi) arrangement of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David song for treble vocal jazz ensembles. Made popular again in 1983 by English New Wave band Naked Eyes, this chart turns the tune on its head, spinning it into a jazz-waltz-like 6/8 groove that borrows both from Naked Eyes’ synth riffs and the more modern, accessible-yet-dissonant reharmonization that has made its way into vocal jazz the last 10-15 years. (If you want to accuse it of sounding like a Kerry Marsh chart, go ahead — I’ll take it as a compliment!)

A soloist takes the first verse and may return for improvisation after the second chorus. Don’t have a pianist that comps chords? No problem — choose between a written-out piano part and a chord chart with only a few obligato figures indicated.

Contents:
A vocal / piano reproducible part – written-out piano part for accompanists who aren’t used to comping chords!
Vocal-only reproducible chart
Bass chart with written-out part
Rhythm section chart (can be used for any rhythm section player that reads chord symbols)
Drum map (without those pesky chords)

This chart is published through Sheet Music Plus.
