SATB (limited SSATB divisi) with rhythm section (p, b, dr)

This fresh samba is from the pen of Chicago-based singer Andrew Distel and J. Adams Oaks. The arrangement features a solo break and a “removable” half-time reharmonization perfect for featuring a small group of singers, before returning to the verse and chorus. Straight-ahead samba groove, and a written-out piano part option as well as a rhythm-only chart. In the works:  versions for SATB (no divisi), SAB, and SSA.

Premiere performance (Fall 2021) by the ILMEA District 9 Vocal Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Jason Hawkins.
